Typography
Typography is a technique for writing and organizing words. We use words and designs of different patterns on a large scale, in our daily life in various media such as newspapers, applications, letters, notebooks, textbooks, currency, notes, posters, tickets, MSS, emails etc. It is used.
At present, a large number of digital fonts are available. A designer carefully chooses fonts to use in graphic design projects. Medium, Targets, Production aspect and Reference fonts have unique features and require special attention of the designer.
Category
In English, fonts are classified into several groups. There are three main groups -
- Sarif
- Without Sarif
- Script
Serif
A serif is stated at the end of a stroke as "I". Some fonts show small features at the ends of the strokes as "serifs". Some common serif typefaces are Times New Roman and Garmond.
Without Sarif
Sans Sarif means that there is no stroke in the font. Sans Sariftype faces include Arial, and Helvetica.
The script
Script fonts recreate the visual style of calligraphy.
Font size
Font sizes help to increase and decrease the anatomical size of a font. Capital letters, such as typographic, are called "uppercase" letters. Similarly, all lowercase letters are called "lowercase" letters.
Ascend
Ascender is the part of the character that is above the baseline.
Descend
Descender is the part of the character that is below the baseline.
Point Size
The font size is usually specified in point size. In typology, the smallest unit of measurement is a dot denoted as "PT".
1 point = 0.353 mm
1 point = 0.0139 inch
Leading
Leading is the space between lines of text. Typography in digital files is the space between the leading baseline.
ext Formatting
There are 4 types of text formatting -
- Left alignment: In this formatting, the text is displayed on the left side.
- Right alignment: In this formatting, the text is displayed on the right side.
- Justify: The text in it is displayed in Justify format.
- Center: In it, the text is displayed in the center.
