How to open Story Editor

  • Click on the block of text you want to improve
  • From the Edit menu, select Story Editor
  • The text of the entire story will now appear in the story editor.

How to use spell check in PageMaker

PageMaker has the facility to check Spelling & Grammar. This is an important tool for users who have less knowledge of English. PageMaker appears to have mistaken Spelling & Grammar error written by the user. If any spelling is wrong. So the red line comes under it. And if there is a grammar mistake. So the green line comes under that sentence. These mistakes can be corrected with the Spelling & Grammar tool.
Any spelling in PageMaker can only be checked in Story Editor. Pagemaker's spell checking feature checks your text against a computer dictionary. If the computer does not recognize a word, the "unknown word" will be read in the upper left corner of the dialog box followed by the unfamiliar word. You have the option to ignore the word, replace the word with a new spelling, or add the word to a computer dictionary.
If you want the word to remain in the document as it is, click Ignore. For example, the computer may not recognize your first and last name, but you do not want their spelling to change. This word will be added to a temporary dictionary that is active until you exit Pagemaker.
  • From the Utilities Menu, Spelling…. Select A spelling dialog box will appear on the screen.

  • Optional: To check all the stories in your document, select the All Stories option.
  • Click on START
  • If all words are identified by the computer's dictionary, the No Spelling Errors dialog will appear at the top left of the box.
  • If this happens then continue with step 6.
  • If a word is not identified by the computer's dictionary, then the Unknown Word dialog box will appear at the top left. In the Change to box, remove it and type a new spelling. If this happens, continue with step 5.
  • If the word is incorrect and the computer dictionary recognizes it, the word will appear in the Change to box. In the text area below the Change to box, the computer will list the possible spelling for the misspelled word. Select the correct option, and go to step 5.
  • Click on replace
  • When a spell check is performed, the phrase "Spelling Check Complete" will appear.
  • Click on CLOSE.

How to get out of story editor

From the Edit menu, select Edit layout.
